Drops solve “here is a blob.” They do not solve “here is a thing people should look at together.”
Media compositions are the second shape:
- Build a card or player around drops you already uploaded
- Stream with proper Range support so video is not a sad full-download
- Threaded comments on the composition (signed-in), separate from the public blog comment box
- List UX that stays browse-first — create and edit live on their own pages so the library does not become a scrolling form graveyard
Later pass: optional Recommended sort for Media, opt-in, fed by engagement signals instead of whatever was uploaded last. Standing and privacy knobs sit next to that so “smart sort” does not silently become a surveillance product.
This is still a personal library with friends, not a YouTube clone. The win is having a place for short clips and collections that is not Discord attachments or someone else’s CDN. Browse it on Hub at /hub/media.
